Update to Civil Emergency COVID-19 Guidance for Coweta

UPDATE 4/30/20 — Coweta City Council met on Wednesday, April 29, and adopted Resolution 2020-13 regarding the ongoing Civil Emergency caused by the novel coronavirus. 

Important changes to the current guidelines for the City are as follows:

>> All events or gatherings of more than ten (10) people at City of Coweta, Oklahoma owned, leased, or operated facilities are banned until May 15th, 2020.

>> Playgrounds remain closed until May 15th. Park green spaces remain open but subject to social distancing. We expect at this time for organized sports to return on May 15th. 

>> Itinerant Vendors are prohibited from passage across or traversing upon residential or commercial properties in the City of Coweta, Oklahoma without the specific invitation of the person in charge of said property until May 15th, 2020.

>> The Coweta Public Works Authority is hereby directed to not terminate utility services of utility customers for non-payment on or before May 25th, 2020. Utility customers who have not paid outstanding balances as of that date, shall bring their accounts current or enter into satisfactory payment arrangements in accordance with the standard practices of the Coweta Public Works Authority before 4:00 p.m. that day. Those utility customers that are thereafter not current or under a satisfactory payment arrangement shall have their utility services disconnected in accordance with the standard practices of the Coweta Public Works Authority. Unpaid customary late fees, interest, and other penalties accrued on utility accounts after March 15th, 2020 through the date of this Resolution are hereby waived.

>> The following City of Coweta, Oklahoma facilities and properties shall remain open for limited individual public access, however, events or gatherings of more than ten (10) people not otherwise exempted are canceled until May 15th, 2020. Individual facilities may develop and post further rules regarding individual public access.

  • Centennial Plaza
  • Roland Park
  • Coweta Sports Park
  • Jimmy Lee Campbell Memorial Park
  • Graham Park
  • Coweta Public Library

The provisions of the Open Up & Recovery Safely (OURS) Plan on the Oklahoma Department of Commerce’s website, as such may be amended, that are not in direct conflict with terms of Sections 1 – 5 of this Resolution, are hereby adopted. We continue to monitor the situation and all guidelines are subject to change should the conditions warrant.
